Staff Veterinarian

Tampa Veterinarian, Dr. Uthaya Kumar

I am Dr. Uthaya Kumar, a Tampa Veterinarian, and owner of Oak Tree Animal Hospital here in Tampa FL.

Tampa Veterinarian Dr Kumar Oak Tree Animal Hospital Tampa FL 33604I graduated from Madras Veterinary College. Madras Veterinary College was founded in 1903, in Veprey ,Chennai India. I also attended Montana State University in Bozeman, Montana where I obtained additional training and education.

At Montana State University, I completed a master’s degree in veterinary medicine and molecular biology. After graduation, I worked as a biomedical researcher for several years, but I was not doing what I wanted to do. My passion has always been to have my own animal hospital and provide the best veterinary pet healthcare that I could. So, I moved to Tampa to become a Tampa veterinarian. After moving to Tampa, I also completed a one year small animal medicine clinical rotation at the University of Florida, College of Veterinary Medicine in Gainesville FL. There is nothing like working at a veterinary teaching hospital to gain additional knowledge, insight and training.

After moving to Tampa, I worked as an associate Tampa veterinarian in one of the Tampa animal hospitals. I eventually bought Oak Tree Animal Hospital in Northwest Tampa and finally fulfilled my dream. It was long and hard work to get here, but it was well worth it. I now have over ten years of small animal veterinary medical experience, of which eight have been at Oak Tree Animal Hospital in Tampa, FL.

I also enjoy reading and writing and have even published a short collection. In fact, I am honored to have received the 2007 bronze medal award which was presented by The Florida Book Awards in the General Fiction (Uthaya Kumar – “Ticket to the Moon” – Miami: Bouncing Ball Books).

Well, that’s enough about me. As a practicing veterinarian in the Tampa Bay area, I would certainly like to become your Tampa Veterinarian and it would be an honor to provide my services for your pet.

Thank you,

Uthaya Kumar, DVM
