Veterinary Pet Care Services
Gateway Animal Hospital is your full service neighborhood animal hospital that provides a wide range of medical, diagnostic and ancillary animal care services.
We Offer The Following Services
Medical Care and Hospitalization
Being a full service veterinary hospital, means we are prepared to diagnose, treat, and hospitalize those patients who are very sick or severely injured and provide the best medical and surgical care available today. The administration of injectable and oral medications, intravenous fluid administration, oxygen therapy and tube feeding may be some of the procedures required to treat one of our patients.
Most of our surgeries are performed by Dr. Roy Faulkner, our staff surgeon. Dr. Faulkner can handle not only our more routine surgeries but also specialty type surgeries, thus giving us the ability of keeping our patients in their primary veterinary care facility and not having to be referred to a specialty veterinary hospital.
We also provide general orthopedic surgery including fracture repair, stifle repair (knee surgery), medial patella luxations, femoral head ostectomies, Tibial Tuberosity Advancement (TTA) for cruciate injuries, etc.
Digital Radiography and Ultrasound
With the state of the art digital radiogrphy system (x rays), we can obtain very high quality radiographs, very rapidly, and if needed, have them electronically transmitted for review by a Board Certified Veterinary Radiologist, which helps to remove the guess work needed sometimes to read (interpret) a radiographic image.
Ultrasound is another modality available to us, and its images, can also be digitized for transmission. Ultrasound is a non-invasive way to look into the thoracic and abdomen body cavities and also evaluate the internal organs present in those cavities… Read more
Prophylactic Dental Cleaning and Both Simple and Surgical Extractions
Prophylactic dental cleaning, to remove that built up plague, is very important in maintaining the health of your pet. Infected gums with periodontal disease is a source for bacteria to escape into the blood stream and infect the internal organs (heart valves, liver, kidneys, etc). Through veterinary technicians we can perform a thorough dental cleaning and remove that infectious plague. when needed we can perform dental extractions, whether they be a simple extraction or that requires surgical intervention to remove the affected tooth.
In House Laboratory
Gateway Animal Hospital maintains its own in house laboratory which provides us with full battery of chemistry profiles and complete blood counts whcih include a differential. We also perform fine needle aspirate, for cytological examination.
In House Pharmacy
Gateway Animal Hospital keeps stocked a full medical pharmacy so that our clients don’t have to make another stop on the way home, after bringing or picking up their pet from the hospital.
Preventative Health Care and Vaccinations
Gateway Animal Hospital provides routine vaccinations in accordance with the latest vaccination recommendations of the veterinary profession. Our vaccination program can be tailored to the individual needs of the pet and/or client.
Pet ID Services
We recommend Pet Identification, through micro-chipping, for all of our patients. We have seen too many lost dogs and cats, without microchips, being transported to either the SPCA or Pinellas Animal Services and not having a microchip. Checking for a microchip is SOP for these organizations and also most veterinary hospitals. Losing a loved pet can be very traumatic to the whole family, especially not knowing what has happened and not knowing if your pet may be injured.
We provide boarding for our clients for those times they must leave their pets. We have ample facilities for cats, small-medium sized dogs and lasrge breed dogs.
